It's a politically-charged few days coming up, and there are comedy shows all week that reflect this.
On Thursday, Night Church goes head to head with Roe v Wade with a fundraiser for the New Orleans Abortion Fund. The show is at Sidney's Saloon (1200 St Bernard Avenue), with free New Orleans Ice Cream from 8pm and the show at 8.30pm. The show is free, with donations and a portion of the bar take going to NOAF.
On Friday, the New Movement (2706 St Claude Avenue) presents its Alternative Inauguration, with Chris Trew and TNM comics satirising the day's events (not a fundraising show). Show at 7.30pm.
On Saturday, the AllWays Lounge (2240 St Claude Avenue) hosts the New Orleans edition of a nationwide comedy event, What A Joke. Dozens of cities will host stand up shows to raise money for the ACLU, and there's a full line up of local comics, hosted by Andrew Healan. It's $5 at the door, with the show starting at 8pm.
